Raheem Shaquile Sterling was born on December 8, 1994 in Kingston, Jamaica. He was born from the womb of a mother named Nadine Sterling. Sterling was born into a poor family. His mother only works as a makeup artist, while Sterling himself has three siblings.

The struggle with the reds began, his career began to climb until in 2012 Sterling was promoted to the Liverpool first team. On March 24, Sterling made his senior debut at Liverpool as a substitute in the primary league match against Wigan Athletic, when he was 17 years and 107 days old.

Sterling's slick performance saw him called up by the senior English national team and made his debut on November 14, 2012 in a friendly against Sweden. Two years later he played at the 2014 World Cup.

In August 2012, Sterling made his European debut with Liverpool, he entered as a substitute in a European League qualifying match against Gomel. The following week, Sterling scored his first goal against Bayer Leverkusen.

Sterling made his debut in the UEFA Champions League when facing Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad at Anfield on 16 September 2014. Two months later he made his 100th appearance for Liverpool in a match against Manchester United at Old Trafford. In that season he scored 11 goals in 52 matches in all competitions, he was also crowned again as Liverpool's best young player.

His brilliant performances with the Reds were able to attract Manchester City's interest, until in July 2015 Sterling officially signed a five-year contract with a transfer fee of 44 million pounds or around Rp770 billion.
