Nedved was a key player of the Czech Republic national team who successfully advanced to the 1996 EURO final, where he began to attract international attention and eventually carried the armband. Famous for his toughness and good ball processing ability, along with his powerful shot and goal-scoring ability, Nedved has been nicknamed Furia Ceca by Italian supporters.
He successfully won the Ballon d'Or award in 2003, Nedved became the second Czech player to receive this award, and the first since the dissolution of Czechoslovakia. He was also the recipient of the second Golden Foot award in 2004. Throughout his career Nedved has won numerous awards, such as the Czech Player of the Year 4 times.
Nedved has defended several clubs such as Dukla Praha, Sparta Prague, Lazio and Juventus. He then decided to retire after the end of the 2008–09 season, after 19 years as a professional player. Nedved played 501 times at club level and scored 110 goals. At the international level, he won 91 times for his country and scored 18 goals. Now he serves as the board of directors of Juventus.
