Marco James Reus was born on May 31, 1989 in Dortmund, Germany. Reus was born into a simple family by the couple Thomas Reus and Manuela Reus. His father came from England who grew up in Germany, while his mother had Russian blood.

Reus has two sisters named Yvonne and Melanie. Reus is the only son who is very simple. His parents never spoiled Reus beyond the limits. Reus is also known as an active child.

His first debut for Dortmund began on August 24, 2012 against Werder Bremen in a Bundesliga match and he scored for the team's 2-1 victory. One month later, Reus scored twice for Dortmund in a match against his former club, Borussia Monchengladbach.

On October 3, Reus opened the scoring when Dortmund won a 1-1 draw against Premier League champions Manchester City. ‘This match is his first Champions League appearance.

On February 16, 2013, Reus scored a hat trick, netting all of Dortmund's goals against Eintracht Frankfurt. On May 11, Reus scored a late equalizer against Wolfsburg to help Dortmund after two goals behind.

In the Bundesliga event, Reus was recorded as having collected three of the best player titles namely in the 2011/12, 2013/14, and 2018/19 seasons. Other individual titles he won were the title of Dortmund's 2013/14 best player and Germany's 2012 and 2019 best players.

On the international stage, Reus's ability is also tested. Had defended the German under-21 national team in two matches. Reus made his debut with the senior team on October 7, 2011 in a test match against Turkey. While his first goal for Germany came in May 2012 against Switzerland.

Reus's hobbies besides playing soccer are Basketball and Tennis. Apart from that, he is also a Robin Hood fan. Reus is also a close friend of Mario Goetze. Goetze even held a Reus shirt after Germany won in the 2014 World Cup Final.
