Jerome Boateng's Life and Career Journey in Football "Expressed in the form of a tattoo on his arm"
Jerome Agyenim Boateng was born on the 3rd of Speptember 1988 in Belin, Germany. Boateng was born to Martina and Prince Boateng. The father is a native of Ghanaian descent. Boateng has a brother named Kevin Prince Boateng. Uniquely, when he was growing up, Kevin Prince Boateng preferred to take Ghanaian citizenship. Meanwhile, Jerome Boateng himself chose to be a German citizen. Apart from Kevin, Jerome also has another brother named George. Then there is Avelina Boateng who is her sister.
Jerome Boateng, who grew up in Berlin, lived in a relatively well-off family. His father who came from Ghana managed to get a better life after moving to Germany. Despite choosing German citizenship, Jerome still loves Ghana. This he expressed in the form of a tattoo on his arm. You can see a picture of the African continent complete with Ghana writing.
As a professional footballer, Jerome started his career in the youth team Tennis Borussia Berlin, before finally joining Hertha Berlin in 2002.
After several years studying in the youth team, Jerome finally joined the Berlin first team in 2006. Initially, Jerome was very often on the bench. However, he finally won the coach's trust and made as many as 11 appearances in his first season.
In the summer of 2007, Jerome continued to be linked with a move from Berlin. He wanted to leave and refused to extend his five-year contract with the capital team. Finally, right on August 22, 2007, Jerome joined Hamburg SV. At a cost of around 1 million euros, Jerome officially signed a two-year contract with the team.
At Humberg, Jerome played such an important role. He became a mainstay at the back and managed to get the club to reach the semifinals of the Europa League in his second year. Jerome made 37 appearances during the 2007/08 season and 35 the following season. In the 2009/10 season, Jerome entered the German national team following his good form in Hamburg. He also appeared at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Due to his impressive performances, Jerome Boateng attracted the interest of the Premier League club, Manchester City. Until right on June 5, 2010, Jerome signed a five-year contract with the club based at Etihad Stadium. At that time, Jerome Boateng had the opportunity to wear the jersey number 17.
Jerome Boateng made his City debut in a pre-season friendly against Valencia. But unfortunately Jerome, before the start of the League, he suffered a serious injury. He got the injury while defending Germany in a match against Denmark. It is known, the tendon in his left knee was torn so that he needed further treatment.
In the league itself, Jerome was only able to make his debut in a match against Chelsea in September. During one season defending City, Jerome has contributed the FA Cup title and played 24 matches for The Citizens.
In the following season Jerome moved to FC Bayern. This is based on his desire to have a career in Germany. Moreover, he considered a team like Bayern able to help Jerome appear at a higher level. In addition, the lack of playing minutes at City is also one of the reasons why he wants to return to his hometown.
On 14 July 2011, Bayern confirmed Boateng's transfer to the German club for a fee of 13.5 million euros with a contract duration of four years.
Season after season at Bayern Jerome Boateng lived very well. He appeared so brilliantly and became one of the important players for the success of The Bavarian for many years. Evidence of the glory of Jerome Boateng is also reflected in the seven consecutive Bundesliga trophies that Bayern won. In addition, the 2012/13 European Champions League trophy has also confirmed Jerome Boateng's greatness as one of FC Bayern's best doorsteps.
The season also featured the European Super Cup trophy and the Club World Cup trophy.
In 2014, Jerome Boateng was part of the German national team which won the World Cup trophy.
Jerome Boateng's good performance was then appreciated in 2016. He won the award as the country's best player (Germany Player of the Year / Deutschen Fußballer des Jahres) following his fine performances throughout the 2015/16 season.
Jerome Boateng defeated fellow German national team player Thomas Muller and the spearhead of Bayern Munich and Poland national team Robert Lewandowski in the voting. He got 163 votes in the vote, Muller 95, and Lewandowski got 90 votes. In fourth and fifth positions are Toni Kroos with 68 votes and Manuel Neuer with 54 votes.
Jerome Boateng became the first defender to win the prestigious award since former Germany captain Lothar Herbert Matthaus.
However, despite his success in the world of football, Jerome Boateng's experience of love was not very smooth. Around September 2019, prosecutors at the Munich district court filed charges against Boateng.
Boateng is accused of committing acts of violence against his ex-girlfriend, with whom he was in a relationship for a decade. Anne Leiding as the prosecutor confirmed to SID that the investigation into Boateng began in 2018, with charges filed in February 2019.
Even though the charges were filed last February, the court is still in "intermediary process" as further investigations are still underway to determine whether the judge will accept the charges. Meanwhile, Boateng's attorney released a statement denying the allegations against his client.
Boateng and his ex-girlfriend had a love affair for ten years and from the fruit of this love they have two children. The two sons of Jerome Boateng were named Lamia Boateng and Soley Boateng.
Now, Jerome Boateng still has the status of an FC Bayern player and is still the mainstay of the team nicknamed The Bavarian.
