The Most Profitable Transfer in Chelsea History

Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in England. They became a rich club after Roman Abramovich in 2003.

Diego Costa

Diego Costa has been very impressive with Atletico Madrid. Chelsea then brought him to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2014 for 38 million euros.

Costa managed to help Chelsea win two Premier League titles. However, the Brazilian-born striker eventually left the Blues after falling out with Antonio Conte.

Chelsea released Costa to Atletico for a transfer fee of 60 million euros. That way the Blues benefit from selling Costa to around 22 million euros.


David Luiz


David Luiz first came to Chelsea in the January 2011 transfer market. The Brazilian defender was brought in from Benfica for a fee of 25 million euros.

Luiz then became the main choice at the heart of Chelsea's defense. His impressive performance at Stamford Bridge made PSG smitten to sign him.

PSG then spent 49.5 million euros to get Luiz's signature in 2014. Luiz's departure gave Chelsea a profit of 24.5 million euros.

Thibaut Courtois


Thibaut Courtois was signed by Chelsea from Genk in 2011 for 8.95 million euros. He was immediately loaned to Atletico Madrid until 2014 before finally returning to Chelsea.

Courtois then became Chelsea's main goalkeeper. He replaced Petr Cech and helped the Blues win two Premier League titles.

But in 2018, Courtois decided to return to Spain in a Real Madrid shirt. Chelsea released him to the Santiago Bernabeu for 35 million euros so that they got a profit of 26.5 million euros from the sale.

Oscar


Oscar joined Chelsea from Internacional in 2012 for 32 million euros. During his stay in West London, he scored 38 goals in 203 games.

Oscar won three trophies with Chelsea, namely the Premier League, League Cup and Europa League. However, Oscar's time with the Blues ended in January 2017.

Chelsea signed Eden Hazard from Lille in the summer of 2012. The midfielder was then brought to Stamford Bridge for 35 million euros.
